EN 207 Scale Numbers (LB) vs. ANSI Optical Density (OD)
Proper laser eye protection selection requires matching the laser wavelength and operating regime (Continuous Wave, Pulsed, Giant Pulsed, or Mode-Locked) with certified filters capable of withstanding direct radiation.
- Optical Density (OD): Attenuation factor per Beer-Lambert law. OD 6 provides 10^6 attenuation.
- EN 207 LB Ratings: Certified damage resistance (5s or 50 pulses) coupled with verified optical density.
- Visible Light Transmission (VLT): Percentage of ambient visible light passing through the protective lens to preserve user visual acuity.
